On-Site Appliance (OSA)
Role
The manage_appliances
role is required to use this feature.
The On-Site Appliance (OSA) is a container or collection of containers that run on a local server or virtual machine. It can be thought of primarily as the probe that allows ZEM to connect to devices on your network. As such, it is a critical part of the system when managing a real-world network.
In the web interface, you can add more than one On-Site Appliance "identity", and multiple appliances can be connected simultaneously, but ZEM will always use only one connection at a time to issue commands to devices and retrieve data - the one that has been available for the longest time.
