Service ports
Role
The view_service_ports
role is required to view this screen.
Service ports can provide temporary access to the network via predefined and programmed ports. This is useful for allowing on-site personnel to access the network for a limited time, such as during maintenance or troubleshooting.
Fields
Role
The manage_service_ports
role is required to use this feature.
In this section, the fields that are available when adding or updating a Service Port are described.
Label
The label of the service port.
Description
The phone number to be used to contact the user.
Port configuration
The port configuration of the service port. This is a required field. This is the configuration that will be applied to the service port when it is activated.
Port
The port of the service port. This is a required field. This is the port that will be used to access the service port. A switch can be selected on the left, and the right field will display all available ports for the selected switch.
Service port activity
Role
The view_service_port_log
role is required to use this feature.
The service port activity log shows all the past events (activations, mutations, etc.) related to the service port(s). Logs can be viewed either per-port by clicking the button in the grid on the service port row, or globally by clicking the button at the top of the page.
Working with service ports
Role
The toggle_service_ports
role is required to use this feature.
Service ports can only be activated for a single session with a pre-set duration, granting access to the network. When the session expires, the port will shut down until it is reactivated. Active service ports can be manually deactivated at any time.
Active service ports
Active service ports are shown in the Service port grid with a green hue and show a deactivation switch with a timestamp signaling when the service port will be shutdown.
Activating service ports
To activate an inactive service port, click the Activate
(shown below) switch on the service port grid.
This will show the following screen:
Duration
The duration of the session, during which the service port will remain available. Available duration options may vary depending on your site.
Deactivating Service port
To deactivate an active service port manually, click the deactivate switch on the service port grid.
This will show the following screen:
Click the Ok
button to deactivate the service port. The service port will be shut down instantly.
